Welcome to my personal blog

Welcome! It’s nice to have you here. 👋

My name is Tiago Coelho, I’m currently working as Pixelmatters’ CTO, and “The CTO Saga” is my personal blog. For some time now, I have been planning to create a personal blog to share my learnings and perspectives on leadership, engineering management, and technology. Feeling that the time is now, I just built this blog in record time during the weekend, reusing many things that the open-source community offers. 👏

Personal branding

After working as a Software Engineer for some time, I had the opportunity to work as Pixelmatters’ CTO. Nowadays, ~2 years later in the role, I feel this is the time to define my personal brand, using this blog for this purpose.

“Your brand is what people say about you when you’re not in the room.”

Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s founder, once said: “Your brand is what people say about you when you’re not in the room.”, and I couldn’t agree more with him. My intention is to share my perspectives with the world, sharing my experiences, learnings, and skills that make me who I am.

Why “The CTO Saga”?

It may seem contradictory, but I didn’t want to do the blog under my name despite the intention to build my personal brand. Thus, the name “The CTO Saga” was born. The name came after thinking a little about what to name my blog and realizing that my path as a professional until today has been full of adventures, the real saga: a long, involved story with a series of incidents along the way.

Sharing what I’ve learned so far is a way to validate and discuss my ideas with others, contributing to the growth of all parties, which is really unique and worthwhile. Either you are a CTO, Engineering Manager, a Sofware Engineer, or if you have any different position in leadership, engineering management, or technology, this blog may have interesting content for you.

Final considerations

I had the idea of creating my own blog for some time now, and I finally decided to go ahead. I don’t know what the frequency of writing will be, nor the diversity of topics. The only certainty is that they will be about leadership, engineering management, and technology. But honestly, that’s not what matters to me right now. What matters the most to me is to share ideas (even more) with other people and to learn much more from them.

Hopefully, this blog will be impactful for someone positively. Stay tuned!

Follow me on Twitter and Linkedin, where I will post every time a new article is added to the blog. Enjoyed reading this post? Could you share it with the world?
